Patrick James Devlin (1877-1941) was a sports journalist and prominent activist in the Gaelic Athletic Association. Born in County Armagh, Devlin moved to Dublin at the age of nine. He would quickly become one of the most respected match correspondents of the fledging GAA, often writing match reports in the Freeman’s Journal. He also was instrumental in the development and growth of the GAA in his native Ulster, penning several articles in the Shan Van Vocht to promote the sport’s growth in the region.
