John Locke (1847-1889) was an Irish writer and a Fenian activist. He was a prolific writer and a poet and known for his hurling ability as a young man. He become involved with the Fenians and wrote for the Irish People until its suppression when he was arrested. After his release from prison he spent some time in Manchester before moving to New York where he became a full-time journalist.
