Clan na Gael was the American branch of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and the successor of the Fenian Brotherhood. It was dedicated to uniting Irish America in support for Irish independence, and was heavily active in the late 19th and early 20th century. Key figures in Clan na Gael included Irish exiles and immigrants such as John Devoy and Joseph McGarrity.
